Awaiting Fall

Tunic: Lush ($42 and comes in 5 colors) / Shorts: H&M (sold out but similar here)
Heels: Enzo Angiolini / Bag: SoleSociety (sold out but love this one) / Sunglasses: Ray Ban

I don't know about you guys, but the transition between summer and fall is really hard for me. First of all, I'm struggling with the fact that summer is indeed over. The forever kind of over. What I mean is,  this was my last summer before optometry school. I will never have a true summer again. The next few summers will be spent studying and preparing myself for my chosen career: Optometry. But as much as I hate to see it go, I'm ready to dive into this next phase of my life. These first two weeks of school have been challenging but so much fun. Living in Birmingham is awesome. I haven't had much time to explore yet, but I did find the most AMAZING BBQ place called Saw's (thanks to my roommate). If you're in Bham, you must go there.

Anyway, since summer is gone and classes are here, I'm ready for this heat to go. No need to get pushy though because we have another month of summer-like weather before I can even think about wearing a pair of boots. But just because the weather isn't cooperating doesn't mean I can't dress like fall in this warmer weather. One of my favorite fall prints is leopard and I absolutely adore these shorts. They are super comfortable and were on sale at H&M for $7! They are no longer online but don't worry though because I found a similar pair for under $10! I paired them with my favorite tunic and I love how it screams fall. I know these shorts will be on repeat the next few months while I patiently await some true fall weather.

Summer Print Mixing

Thursday, August 20, 2015

Top: J Crew old (similar here) / Shorts: The Pink Nickel / Shoes: Enzo Angiolini
Wristlet: Kate Spade (similar here) / Bracelets: Sequin (similar) & Marianna Mae Design

I'm all about some print mixing. I think it's such a great way to make an outfit super interesting and make you stand out of the crowd. Here I mixed these adorable polka dot shorts with a gingham button-up and I loved how it turned out. I think the key to print mixing is to choose a larger print pattern and pair it with a smaller print pattern to balance out the look and make it the most visually appealing. I know I'll definitely be mixing some patterns in the upcoming autumn months. One of my favorite patterns to play with is stripes, and I can already see myself pairing it with plaid and leopard patterns.

PS. How amazing are these shorts?! They are super girly and fun and almost look like a miniskirt. I'm imagining pairing them with a red tank for some UGA football games this fall!

Thanks for stopping by!

5 Must-Haves For Fall

Friday, August 7, 2015

With school starting back, I can't help but think of fall fashion. Even though the temps in the south are still months away from true fall fashion, I can't help but begin to shop and plan fall outfits. Below, I'm talking about five staples that are always in my fall wardrobe. I'm usually mixing and matching these items to create different outfits!

Plaid shirts in the fall are a no brainer... they are super easy and can be dressed up with a nice blazer, or dressed down with an oversized cardigan. I think I have a million in my closet and I know I'll definitely add a few more this fall like I do every year.

Ok, so I have an obsession with puffer vests. My favorites are from J. Crew and J. Crew Factory.  I own the infamous herringbone vest (my all-time favorite), a hunter green, and a wine color. This fall, I have this vest on my wishlist. With its ivory color, it's definitely a vest that can be worn with almost anything!

Blanket scarves are a must for fall. When it actually turns cold, they are the best thing to have because they keep you really warm because they are so big. I found all of these colors on sale at amazon for a great price!

1. | 2. | 3.

I think almost every girl has a great pair of riding boots in her fall wardrobe, but just in case you don't these are three of my favorites that are super versatile. I definitely have those Tory Burch boots on my wishlist for fall and winter.

This may be my favorite fall item... the utility jacket. My boyfriend got me the Barbour Beadnell jacket last fall and I think I wore it almost everyday. I'm obsessed with it. It's such great quality and will last me for years. It definitely pairs well over the J. Crew vests for a layered look. I've linked two other utility jackets I'm loving at a more affordable price!
