Spring Cleaning + A Review of We Love Eyes

I'm back today with a post ALL about spring cleaning. This isn't going to be a boring post about how I clean my house... let's face it... I haven't mastered that yet. But instead I'm here to show you how I've been taking care of my skin and removing my makeup. Most of these products are long time favorites but a few are new and are knocking me off my feet, so I had to share.

First up, my most recently discovered product: the We Love Eyes Makeup Removing Oil + Foaming Cleanser. I've been using this about 1 month and I can't say enough good things about it. I'll be honest, before I was just using my face wash to scrub the mascara and eyeshadow off my eyes at night but I wasn't really getting all of it off like I needed to. After I discovered this line of products, I was so excited to try it out because it claims to be non-toxic and all natural, plus the founder of the company is an optometrist. Dr. Tanya Gill created this line because she kept seeing patients who were suffering from red and inflamed eyes. She thought maybe there was something in makeup removers that could be irritating the delicate skin around your eyes. After doing research, she found that there were no makeup removers that were non-toxic and made specifically for your eyes. Hence, We Love Eyes was born... literally in her kitchen with the help of her trusty organic chemistry knowledge from undergrad. Seriously Dr. Gill, I'd like to forget O-Chem was ever a thing so props to you girlfrand!

The first product I tried from the line was the makeup removing oil. This product claims to dissolve your eye makeup without using harsh chemicals. The only ingredients in this remover is jojoba seed oil, grape seed oil, and tea tree oil. Tea tree oil has a TON of great uses for hygiene and your household, but it's really great for it's natural ability to kill bacteria and demodex mites. You probably know that we have bacteria all over our bodies and our eyelids and lashes aren't exempt from that. You can get a buildup of bacteria from not washing your lids well enough or not removing your makeup before going to bed. This can cause redness, itching, and irritation. Also, you can get demodex mites that love to live in and infest your eyelash follicles. These are more common in adults and you are 7-8x more likely to get demodex mites if you have rosacea. This can also cause itching and even loss of lashes. So if you get styes a lot or have rosacea, it may be time to try out some tea tree oil to get rid of the bacteria or mites.

The next product I tried was the foaming cleanser. This is meant to be used after the oil mentioned above and is basically a cleanser for your lids and lashes. This product can even be used on false lashes. I don't personally wear false lashes on a day-to-day basis. Tbh, I've only ever worn them when I've had my makeup professionally done... but if you wear false lashes and try to get more than one use out of them, this cleanser will help your falsies last as long as possible without damaging them. Even if I don't have time to use the oil every night, I put 1-2 pumps of the cleanser on my fingertips, rub it between both hands and apply to my eyelids and lashes. I gently rub and make sure I get rid of all my eye makeup and any debris that may have collected during the day. I LOVE this step because a lot of times my Philosophy cleanser doesn't get all of my eye makeup off, and if its pushing 1 AM after a long few hours of studying, I need the quickest and best way to remove my makeup before literally falling in bed. This stuff really does it for me and I'm super impressed. The only negative I have has to do with the smell of the foaming cleanser. It definitely doesn't smell good, but I don't mind because it's cleaned my lashes better than any other eye makeup remover I've tried.

The next few products are favorites of mine:

I have been using this philosophy cleanser for at least 4 years now. I love how it removes ALL of my makeup and I even use it to clean my makeup brushes. I keep a smaller bottle in my shower and it makes it really easy to remove my makeup in the shower every night.

I ordered the Rodan and Fields Redefine regimen last summer and have been using it ever since. This regimen has helped even my skin tone and get rid of redness. I love love love the Daily Cleansing Mask. It makes my skin feel so soft. I follow up with the Pore Minimizing Toner, then apply either the day or night cream. Since I'm getting older and have been dealing with stress and long days and nights of studying, I've been trying to care more about my skin and using products that are anti-aging. I definitely recommend Rodan and Fields. If you are prone to acne breakouts, I suggest trying the Unblemish Regimen.

These few products comprise my daily morning/night routine and I can tell a huge difference in my skin when I'm not using these like I should. Hopefully soon after second year ends, I'll be able to get more sleep and my skin will start to look even better. A girl can dream right??

Thanks for stopping by!

Loft Flash Sale

I recently took a trip to Loft to grab some new clothes for clinic this summer. I have to be dressed up 4 days a week and I needed to update my clinic wardrobe. I grabbed several things and tried on a ton. I decided I would wait for a sale to get some other things I wanted and I'm sure glad I did. I got an email this afternoon from Loft about a flash sale they are doing. It's 40% off full-price styles, 50% off sale, and FREE shipping with the code FLASH. I'm stocking up on a few things I didn't get in store and I wanted to write a post for those of ya'll that may be interested in getting a great deal on some pretty adorable summer wardrobe must-haves.

First up is this pretty little off-the-shoulder gingham dress. It's black and white and oh so cute. Plus, the material is super soft and light weight. I didn't get it in store the day I tried it on but you better believe I'm ordering it in this sale. Originally $80, it's now marked down to $48!

The next favorite was this floral top! I absolutely LOVE this top - the colors, the shape, the fabric. Originally $55, it's now marked down to $33! It 100% going to be in my summer wardrobe.

I have these pants in another print and love them so much for clinic that I decided I had to have them in this print too! They are so comfortable and easy to wear, plus this print makes them easy to style with many other colors. These pants were originally $65 and are now marked down to $33! I didn't buy this top in store because it was $30, but now that its only $15, I'm going to order it to wear with these pants.

I also bought these pants in the store because they fit me really well and were also comfortable! I actually just wore them this week and was really happy I got them. They were originally $70 and are on sale for $18! Such a STEAL.

This is the top from the last picture and its sooo cute! It ties in the back and has the most adorable sleeves! It was originally $45 and is not $27!

These are my favorite shorts for summer! I bought these in store when they weren't even on sale. That's how you know I really wanted them, haha. They were $50, but now they are $30. They are running out of size though so hurry!

Check out the slide show below for a few more items from the sale that I either already purchased or are in my cart!  Use the code FLASH when you check out!

Thanks for reading!

Wedding Wednesday - Photos are Here!

Our wedding photos are finally here! I got the email from our AMAZING photographer (Amanda Sumner Photography) during Binocular Vision class and let's just say, I had a really hard time paying attention and an even harder time trying to look at these photos on my iPhone lol... But I'm here today to share a few of my favorites but I'm jut going to be 100% honest and say you'll probably be seeing these again in a future post or an instagram post. Sorry, I'm just a little obsessed.

We decided (or rather I decided) to do a first look. For those of you that don't know what a first look is, it's when the bride and groom take a few moments before the wedding to meet and see each other. A lot of people may think this is bad luck and totally not traditional but I'm so glad we did. I was so nervous the whole morning about there being so many people there all looking at us and I really just needed to see Jess so he could calm me down. Plus this allowed us to get all of the wedding photos out of the way. We did take a few at sunset after the ceremony though!

I just love this photo and the way we were so excited to see each other. You can see it all over our faces.

Fun fact: my dad built this arbor just for my wedding day. I had seen so many different arbors in wedding photos all over Pinterest but couldn't find one in South GA that I could rent or borrow so my dad helped me out a little. Another fun fact: right after we did our first look and took a few pictures in front of it, the wind blew SO hard and knocked the whole thing over. Greenery and flowers went everywhere. Thankfully a few of the workers and my mom were able to salvage most of the flowers and get it decorated again. My dad was there in a heartbeat and he brought tractor weights to put on the legs at the bottom to keep it steady.

We got married at the Bateman Barn in Sasser, GA. This is the only venue I looked at and we booked it within a few days of seeing it. It was 100% my style with rustic charm and it was literally out in the middle of nowhere. It's an old horse barn that they renovated. There's 10 stalls in the barn where tables were and each stall had a chandelier. How perfect?!

But really, could this place get anymore beautiful. I wish I lived out here. Btw, Amanda (the photographer) also did my hair. It was STUNNING.

Adeana Dillon did all of my bridesmaid's makeup and mine plus my moms! She did a fantastic job and I would definitely recommend her to anyone wanting a flawless but natural look on their wedding day.

My handsome husband!

My beautiful bridesmaids.

The groomsmen.

My family. My mom's gorgeous dress is here.

Jess's family.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I 1000% recommend my photographer and I am completely satisfied with her work. She is SO amazing and very quick. I can't wait to use her again in the future.

Wedding Bliss

Hey ya'll! I feel like it's been a lifetime since I made a post. Mostly because it has. I promise I have a good reason though. The last couple of months I have been focused on school and planning my entire wedding. And yes, I'm somehow still alive and didn't flunk out. Jess and I got married on December 17, which was two days after my last final of fall semester. I took my last final Thursday morning and drove home to GA right after.

I had my bridesmaids luncheon Friday morning and the rehearsal dinner Friday night. So needless to say, it was a tight squeeze fitting everything in, but I wouldn't have changed it for the world. Here's a few pictures from the bridesmaids luncheon and the rehearsal dinner!

I want to have a shoutout for all my amazing bridesmaids. They not only woke up extremely early Saturday morning for H&M, but some took off work Friday for the luncheon and rehearsal dinner. I'm so thankful for each and every one of these ladies and all they did to make my wedding special!
The dress I'm wearing is here.

Here's a quick snap of Jess and I at the rehearsal dinner. I was too busy talking to everyone that I almost forgot to get a picture. I got this dress on Black Friday from Lulus for $30!!! Isn't that crazy!?  It's sold out now but here is a similar one.

Here's a picture of the back of the dress I wore to the rehearsal dinner. I love love love the back of it. Maybe we will go somewhere warm for one of our anniversaries and I can break it back out.

Our wedding was everything I had dreamed of and more. We felt so blessed by everyone who came to love and support us. I had been worried for months that it was going to be 35 degrees and everyone was going to freeze, but turns out it was the opposite. I should have known better. It ended up being 75 degrees and was an absolutely beautiful day. I couldn't have asked for anything better. We got married at the Bateman Barn in Sasser, GA.

I am literally cheesing so hard in this picture and I love it! The song we walked back down the aisle to was Hall and Oats "You Make My Dreams Come True." It was so perfect! Jess walked out to this song when he played baseball at UGA.

After the ceremony, we went straight into the reception which was also held at the barn. We had a tent set up to one side where our band, The Grapevine, was ready to go! If you are looking for a band for your wedding or event, I highly recommend them. They do such a good job of getting the crowd involved and making you want to get up and dance.

We capped off a perfect wedding with our honeymoon trip to St. Lucia. We left at 10:00 the night of and headed to ATL and stayed in a hotel. We flew out the next morning and stayed for a week. It was our first time out of the country and we were so excited. St. Lucia was absolutely breathtaking and the most beautiful place I have ever seen. We stayed at Sandals La Toc in Castries and loved every minute of it. Sandals actually has 3 resorts in St. Lucia and they have it set up where you can go to any of the resorts and eat, drink etc. for the price of one resort. I'll do a separate post all about our experience at Sandals.

This was the view from our room!

The mountains in the background are the Pitons which St. Lucia is known for. We took a boat tour to these one day instead of driving because it would have taken about 1.5 hour drive and the boat ride was only about 30 minutes. This was definitely one of my favorite days.

This was after lunch on our tour day. We ate right here on this beach facing the Pitons.

This was our last day and of course I had to snap a pic!

Thank you so much for reading. I'll be back with more of our wedding pictures soon! I just got them back and can't wait to share them all with you.

xoxo, Abigail
