Casual Weekend Vibes

Tee: Madewell / Plaid Shirt: Similar here (under $40), here, and here / Shorts: old but I love these
Shoes: Converse  / Rings: here and here

I would like to say that this past weekend was full of casual weekend vibes, but I'd be lying. My first test was this past Monday so instead, I spent 90% of my weekend studying and the other 10% sleeping. I did manage to make it to a shrimp boil Friday night that my apartment put on and I put together this outfit last minute. These tees are my absolute favorite. At only $20, they are a great price point and so comfortable. It's a great way to look a little more put together than just wearing an actual T-shirt. I own the white, black, and grey. I'm so ready to start wearing plaid shirts, but it's still a little too warm in the south so instead, I opted to tie a plaid shirt around my waist. I've linked some of my favorite plaid shirts of the moment and I'm pretty sure all of them are on sale.

Thanks for reading and Happy Wednesday!

Awaiting Fall

Wednesday, August 26, 2015

Tunic: Lush ($42 and comes in 5 colors) / Shorts: H&M (sold out but similar here)
Heels: Enzo Angiolini / Bag: SoleSociety (sold out but love this one) / Sunglasses: Ray Ban

I don't know about you guys, but the transition between summer and fall is really hard for me. First of all, I'm struggling with the fact that summer is indeed over. The forever kind of over. What I mean is,  this was my last summer before optometry school. I will never have a true summer again. The next few summers will be spent studying and preparing myself for my chosen career: Optometry. But as much as I hate to see it go, I'm ready to dive into this next phase of my life. These first two weeks of school have been challenging but so much fun. Living in Birmingham is awesome. I haven't had much time to explore yet, but I did find the most AMAZING BBQ place called Saw's (thanks to my roommate). If you're in Bham, you must go there.

Anyway, since summer is gone and classes are here, I'm ready for this heat to go. No need to get pushy though because we have another month of summer-like weather before I can even think about wearing a pair of boots. But just because the weather isn't cooperating doesn't mean I can't dress like fall in this warmer weather. One of my favorite fall prints is leopard and I absolutely adore these shorts. They are super comfortable and were on sale at H&M for $7! They are no longer online but don't worry though because I found a similar pair for under $10! I paired them with my favorite tunic and I love how it screams fall. I know these shorts will be on repeat the next few months while I patiently await some true fall weather.

Summer Print Mixing

Thursday, August 20, 2015

Top: J Crew old (similar here) / Shorts: The Pink Nickel / Shoes: Enzo Angiolini
Wristlet: Kate Spade (similar here) / Bracelets: Sequin (similar) & Marianna Mae Design

I'm all about some print mixing. I think it's such a great way to make an outfit super interesting and make you stand out of the crowd. Here I mixed these adorable polka dot shorts with a gingham button-up and I loved how it turned out. I think the key to print mixing is to choose a larger print pattern and pair it with a smaller print pattern to balance out the look and make it the most visually appealing. I know I'll definitely be mixing some patterns in the upcoming autumn months. One of my favorite patterns to play with is stripes, and I can already see myself pairing it with plaid and leopard patterns.

PS. How amazing are these shorts?! They are super girly and fun and almost look like a miniskirt. I'm imagining pairing them with a red tank for some UGA football games this fall!

5 Must-Haves For Fall

Friday, August 7, 2015

With school starting back, I can't help but think of fall fashion. Even though the temps in the south are still months away from true fall fashion, I can't help but begin to shop and plan fall outfits. Below, I'm talking about five staples that are always in my fall wardrobe. I'm usually mixing and matching these items to create different outfits!

Plaid shirts in the fall are a no brainer... they are super easy and can be dressed up with a nice blazer, or dressed down with an oversized cardigan. I think I have a million in my closet and I know I'll definitely add a few more this fall like I do every year.

Ok, so I have an obsession with puffer vests. My favorites are from J. Crew and J. Crew Factory.  I own the infamous herringbone vest (my all-time favorite), a hunter green, and a wine color. This fall, I have this vest on my wishlist. With its ivory color, it's definitely a vest that can be worn with almost anything!

Blanket scarves are a must for fall. When it actually turns cold, they are the best thing to have because they keep you really warm because they are so big. I found all of these colors on sale at amazon for a great price!

1. | 2. | 3.

I think almost every girl has a great pair of riding boots in her fall wardrobe, but just in case you don't these are three of my favorites that are super versatile. I definitely have those Tory Burch boots on my wishlist for fall and winter.

This may be my favorite fall item... the utility jacket. My boyfriend got me the Barbour Beadnell jacket last fall and I think I wore it almost everyday. I'm obsessed with it. It's such great quality and will last me for years. It definitely pairs well over the J. Crew vests for a layered look. I've linked two other utility jackets I'm loving at a more affordable price!

Best Tunic Ever + Elle Gray

Thursday, July 30, 2015

White Tunic: Nordstrom | Distressed Jeans: Nasty Gal | Pink Purse: Kate Spade (sold out but I love this one) | Pink Flats: TJ Maxx find (similar here and here) | Earrings: Elle Gray

This may be one of my favorite easy summer outfits. What's easier than a simple white blouse, distressed denim, and flats? And what's even better, my shirt and jeans are both on sale! This top is probably one of the most popular items in the #NordstromSale, and I can definitely see why. It's long enough to pair with leggings and boots in the fall, but can also be tucked into shorts or pants, making it versatile to wear year round. I ordered the green color (perfect for fall)  also and I'm thinking about going back to order the black before the sale is over! I ordered these jeans when Nasty Gal was having a sale and I'm so glad I did. I've been looking for a pair of distressed denim that didn't break the bank and these were perfect.

I think adding the pops of pink to this outfit really really make it girly and fun. I'm also loving these Elle Gray statement earrings. Check out their site for some gorgeous jewels at amazing prices.

Casual Beachy Look With Sweetest Stitch

Monday, July 27, 2015

Top: Sweetest Stitch c/o | Shorts: J. Crew | Sandals: J. Crew Factory | Hat: Target | Earrings: local boutique but I love these and these | Bracelets: Marianne Mae

I'm back!!! I apologize for being MIA and not posting anything this past week. As you can tell from the pictures, I was vacationing at the beach. To be honest, I didn't do much of anything but soak up lots of sun, eat delicious seafood, and spend time with my boyfriend's family. It was such a nice break and a great end to the summer (that was way too short).

I am loving this top from Sweetest Stitch. I really like the exposed shoulders so I can show off my tan and the stitching detail on the front is gorgeous. You can definitely dress it up with white skinnies and a pair of wedges, but I took a more casual route with shorts and a hat. You probably can't tell but it was so windy in these pictures, so the hat was a lifesaver. Also, thank you Mrs. Traci (my bf's mom) for taking these pictures for me. She did an awesome job!

PS. I move into my apartment in Birmingham this week. So naturally I'm not ready and have a million things left to do. Good thing school doesn't start until August 17!

Transitioning into Fall

Friday, July 17, 2015

Comfortable Black Tee (so affordable) | Cheetah Shorts | Black Sandals | Hat (similar here & here)

We went shopping while in California and I found these shorts in H&M for $7! I'm pretty much obsessed with them and they'll be the perfect transition into fall. Early fall in Georgia is still pretty hot so this is a great outfit for those hot days when I still want to wear fall fashion. I also snagged this hat at H&M and I had trouble finding it online so I just linked a couple of ones that are similar. Also, these Madewell tees are so comfortable and under $20. I bought the grey color while we were out in California too. They are a lot cheaper than ones I've bought at J. Crew but I think I like these more. They are a little more oversized.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
