DIY Pom Pom Beach Hat

Thursday, June 30, 2016

Here's another DIY for ya'll! As you can tell, I've had a lot of free time on my hands this week. I've been wanting to make something fun for the Fourth of July, and I'm so happy with how this beach hat turned out. It was super easy and cheap to make. Keep reading to figure out what I did!

You'll need:

colored poms (red, white, & blue)

Originally, when I was at Michael's, I couldn't decide what size poms I wanted. So I purchased a large set of red, white, & blue and I purchased 3 packs of the smaller poms because they didn't come pre-packed. I ultimately decided to go with the smaller poms because I didn't want them to overpower the hat.

So, I'm a perfectionist. I had to line up all the poms first to make sure of the spacing and make sure the colors matched up when I got around to the other side of the hat. Ya'll may be better at just eyeing it than I am, but this just reassured me that it would look good before I started gluing and there was no going back.

And... here's the finished product! I think it looks great and I can't wait to rock it this weekend at the beach.

I'm actually thinking about making a similar hat for my Bachelorette Trip in a few months! What do ya'll think? It would even be cute for all the girls coming to have a similar black one! Can you say photo-op??

Fourth of July Oreo Pops

Tuesday, June 28, 2016

So today I'm sharing a super easy way to make these adorable Fourth of July Oreo Pops. Since getting engaged, it's like I've had a little switch flip. I'm trying to become slightly more domestic than I used to be lol! I've been cooking a lot more and trying new recipes. The good thing about these Oreo pops, is that they're super easy and you can't really mess them up. And if you mess one up like I did, just eat the evidence.

Whether you're hosting a party, or just hanging around your house this July Fourth, these little treats are the perfect pop for your festive weekend. Oh and they already got the fiancé approval!

You'll need:

1 package of Oreo's

Wilton's Candy Melts in Red, White, & Blue

Lollipop sticks (I used 6")

Parchment paper

Plastic bags (for icing the tops)

3 microwave safe cups

First, untwist the Oreo's and lay them out. While you're doing this, you can go ahead and start melting the white candy melts in the microwave. I filled half of an old microwave safe cup with the melts, then put them in the microwave for 1 minute intervals, stirring between.

After the white candy melts are good and melted, dip one end of the popsicle stick into the candy melt and sandwich it between an Oreo. Let them harden for a few minutes or stick them in the freezer to speed up the process. While they're in the freezer, you can go ahead and melt the red and blue candy melts in the microwave.

After the lollipop sticks have hardened and are secure, dip each Oreo stick into a cup of candy melt. You may have to move it around to get each side coated. I was unsuccessful with some of the bottoms of the Oreo's, but that's ok!

If you choose to use sprinkles on any of the pops, go ahead and do that while they are still wet. For the ones I wanted coated in sprinkles, I grabbed a paper plate, dumped a few sprinkles, and rolled the Oreo pop in the sprinkles. For the other pops, I wanted to do a striped pattern. I put a few leftover candy melts in a plastic bag and melted them in the microwave in 30 second intervals. Then I snipped a tiny corner off the plastic bag and piped the candy melt onto the pops.

After that, just let everything harden, and voila... you'll have the perfect patriotic treats for your celebration this July Fourth!

Yellow Off-The-Shoulder + Beaded Sandals

Monday, June 27, 2016

Yellow there! I'm posting about this dress because I absolutely love it. As you already know, I've been on an OTS (off-the-shoulder) train for a while now. This dress is awesome because it's super comfortable and lightweight, plus it's only $25. Originally,  I wanted to get this dress in a black or red, but I decided to step outside my comfort zone and buy the yellow. I own so many items in the pink and red color family so I'm trying to branch out. But in all honesty,  I love this dress so much I'm seriously thinking about buying another color too... maybe a white for bridal events. I'm also IN LOVE with these beaded sandals. I have been looking for a pair under $100 for a while now, and these fit the bill. They will go with so many outfits because of how colorful they are... so win-win.

I hope everyone had a fun weekend! We hosted some of our best friends here in Birmingham and had one of the most amazing weekends. We tried and saw some new things here that I've been wanting to and we took them to our favorite places. I'm thinking I'll write a fun post on how to spend your weekend in Birmingham if anyone is ever going to be staying here for a few days.

Fourth of July Outfit Inspo

Wednesday, June 22, 2016

The Fourth of July is quickly approaching and I'm trying to decide what I'm going to wear this year. I stumbled upon this super cute off-the-shoulder chambray top (clearly I'm obsessed with this style), and I thought how cute would it be for the Fourth?! I styled it with a pair of white distressed cutoffs for a casual look and pops of red. I'm loving the Marc Fisher wedge sandals. They're super popular and keep selling out. Fortunately, these red ones are 50% off and would be perfect for the Fourth!

Radiant in Red

Monday, June 20, 2016

So the color red has always been a favorite of mine. It complements my complexion and hair color really well. I love to wear red, not because it looks great with my coloring, but because it's such a power color. It's so vibrant and bright and really just makes me happy. A lot of people say if you surround yourself with bright colors, you'll be happier and more cheerful throughout your day, and I'm a firm believer in that. Unfortunately my red dress from ShopBellaC is sold out, but they have an almost identical dress here that has such a pretty low back. I paired my dress with these awesome snake skin lace-up sandals from Sweetest Stitch boutique. I've worn these pretties at least 3 times now and they are super comfortable. I even wore them to the Braves/Giants game on Memorial day and was gone like 10 hours. I love their edgy feel and I'm 10/10 obsessed with lace-up sandals, so these were a no brainer.

Smitten With This Snake Print

Thursday, June 16, 2016

I LOVE swing dresses. You know, the kind that are really flowy and just sway when you walk? They're my favorite kind of dress. I also just purchased a red one so be on the lookout for it in an upcoming blog. I just love this snakeskin print though. And can we talk about the color?! Even though I'm not that tan yet, imagine how it will look once you've just been at the beach for a week! This color will POP! This snakeskin print also comes in a dress and kimono version, both of which have multi-colored tassels at their hems. You can find all of these Judith March pieces, plus a whole lot more at Love June Boutique

This gold layering necklace came in my Rocksbox this month! If you'd like to try Rocksbox free for a month, and receive designer jewelry, use the code abigailee6xoxo!

The Most Beautiful Sandals EVER!

Tuesday, June 14, 2016

I just wanted to put up this post to show ya'll where you can purchase these new sandals I just got in the mail from Love June Boutique. I have been looking for a pair of beaded sandals that were more affordable than most designer pairs, and ya'll these are exactly what I was looking for. They are great quality and the beading is perfection. They buckle in the back, instead of zipping. Also, they only come in half sizes. I'm a 6.5-7 depending on the shoe but I went with a 6.5 in these and they fit perfectly.

Backyard Fun With Lily Belle

Friday, June 10, 2016

I can't tell you guys how much I love having Lily Belle here this summer! Since Jess has moved to Birmingham, we've all been able to see each other every day instead of just on the weekends. I love being able to play with Lil in the backyard and cuddle with her on the couch! Having a dog releases so much stress & really makes you happier, I think. Anyway, here are a few pictures of Lily and I playing around in the yard the other night. I've linked a few outfit details at the bottom of this post. For any of you wondering, Lily is a German Wire-haired Pointer who loves chasing birds and squirrels in the yard and hates when she can't be with her humans.

^^Seriously though, check out that tongue.
