Fourth of July Oreo Pops

Tuesday, June 28, 2016

So today I'm sharing a super easy way to make these adorable Fourth of July Oreo Pops. Since getting engaged, it's like I've had a little switch flip. I'm trying to become slightly more domestic than I used to be lol! I've been cooking a lot more and trying new recipes. The good thing about these Oreo pops, is that they're super easy and you can't really mess them up. And if you mess one up like I did, just eat the evidence.

Whether you're hosting a party, or just hanging around your house this July Fourth, these little treats are the perfect pop for your festive weekend. Oh and they already got the fiancé approval!

You'll need:

1 package of Oreo's

Wilton's Candy Melts in Red, White, & Blue

Lollipop sticks (I used 6")

Parchment paper

Plastic bags (for icing the tops)

3 microwave safe cups

First, untwist the Oreo's and lay them out. While you're doing this, you can go ahead and start melting the white candy melts in the microwave. I filled half of an old microwave safe cup with the melts, then put them in the microwave for 1 minute intervals, stirring between.

After the white candy melts are good and melted, dip one end of the popsicle stick into the candy melt and sandwich it between an Oreo. Let them harden for a few minutes or stick them in the freezer to speed up the process. While they're in the freezer, you can go ahead and melt the red and blue candy melts in the microwave.

After the lollipop sticks have hardened and are secure, dip each Oreo stick into a cup of candy melt. You may have to move it around to get each side coated. I was unsuccessful with some of the bottoms of the Oreo's, but that's ok!

If you choose to use sprinkles on any of the pops, go ahead and do that while they are still wet. For the ones I wanted coated in sprinkles, I grabbed a paper plate, dumped a few sprinkles, and rolled the Oreo pop in the sprinkles. For the other pops, I wanted to do a striped pattern. I put a few leftover candy melts in a plastic bag and melted them in the microwave in 30 second intervals. Then I snipped a tiny corner off the plastic bag and piped the candy melt onto the pops.

After that, just let everything harden, and voila... you'll have the perfect patriotic treats for your celebration this July Fourth!

Thank you so much for reading!

xoxo, Abby
